How will people find you?
I was perusing our shelves of magazine replacement copies and found a copy of the latest MacWorld magazine. I guess it stuck out in my mind because of the release of the new iPhone from Apple. If you haven’t seen it yet, it is definitely a cell phone user’s dream, especially with its top notch web browsing and email software.
While checking out the other features I came across the Maps module. I thought to myself, this phone is going to be a dream come true for businesses throughout America. If you watch the quick presentation, you will see that it uses Google Maps to show the street location of just about any destination you can think of…so are you there?
See the Maps feature at the following link:

If not, you may want to make sure that at least your business is…this new Apple iPhone is going to change the way other phones display information. Within the next five years, I'd be willing to bet that there will be at least 15 other copycat phones that offer the same tool as this Maps feature.
So please do yourself a favor and make sure your business location(s) are in the Google Maps system. Since Google’s unspoken quest is to be the ultimate purveyor all human knowledge, they do not charge you to add your information into their Google Maps system.

Go here and add your business address to Google Maps today – it will be a less than 5 minute no-cost investment that will pay you in the future, especially when prospective customers start using tools like the iPhone to find you when they are lost. Want to track your time investment, you may want to consider using the coupon feature to add a special Google Maps-only incentive that customers can use offline.
How do I know this? I read…a lot! I love books about marketing, Internet trends, and magazines like Wired, Business 2.0,
PC Magazine, Popular Science, Make, Time,
Scientific American, and ID
. I will try to pass along these tidbits of marketing information from now on, but I think it would be realistic to say that I won’t catch everything that could help your business. So check out a few of the magazines I listed above, there is no telling when one of these titles will spark your marketing creativity. For other options, check out our Technology, Computers, and Internet magazines category.
