Monster Pig
I’m not a hunter, but wanted to share this weird tidbit from my neck of the woods. Being a History, National Geographic, and Discovery Channel junkie that I am, I once saw a show I believe was called “Is It Real.” The episode I saw was about “Hogzilla” a fabled gigantic feral pig shot and killed just south of Atlanta. Proof was limited and all that was left was a photograph and a grave.
The National Geographic team had the remains exhumed and determined that it really was about 800 lbs and verified that it truly was a real wild boar. As fate would have it, on May 3, 2007 near Anniston, Alabama an 11 year old boy took a three hour adventure and one-upped Hogzilla.
Jamison Stone caught himself a trophy of a lifetime. It took 16 bullets and one square mile to bring down this freak of nature. The wild boar he bagged was 10 feet 7 inches long and 1,051 pounds!
I don’t know what it is about the South, but it must be something in the water. The funny part is that may not be too far from the truth…Anniston, AL is home to one of the largest Chemical/Biological weapons disposal plants in the United States. I live only one hour’s drive from where this happened so who knows, if I see our fish glowing or growing arms I’ll be sure to let you know.

Sausage anyone? Check out his website here… http://www.monsterpig.com
National Geographic will probably want to do a follow-up story on this beast, and I am pretty sure that all the details will eventually end up in their official magazine
. This animal is a zoologist’s dream come true and will more than likely end up in the Guinness Book of World Records. Of course we can’t forget the hunters out there…although, I don’t think there is a “Boar season.” That doesn’t mean you can’t always stay on top or your game with a few hunting related magazines.
Happy Memorial Day!
Sincerely,
