CosmoGirl Has Been DISCONTINUED

CosmoGirl Magazine has been discontinuedIt looks like the economy is hitting the magazine industry pretty hard. Although in the case of Cosmo Girl, the Internet may have more to do with its demise. It’s becoming more and more difficult to serve a print magazine to a ever expanding wired audience. Why buy the print magazine when you can easily get the same information on your new 3G iPhone?

October will be the last issue of CosmoGirl magazine - if you currently have a subscription with EBSCO and would like a refund on the remaining issues, please contact us here.

Pricing Mistake On Newsletter 64

Consumer Reports Money AdviserI made two mistakes on Newsletter #64 last week.

Consumer Reports Money Adviser was written as having a price of $39.95. That was incorrect; our website lists it as $29.00 which is the correct price.

It seems my luck was doubly bad, when I also misspelled Adviser as Advisor. I apologize…not sure why I missed these problems when reviewing before release.

Bad Link in Last Email Newsletter

I apologize; I sent the last ERRSS email newsletter with a bad link.

Quite a few of you clicked on the Crab Cakes with Roasted Vegetables recipe link from Cooking Light magazine. Apparently when clicked on that link it took you to the Onion Rings recipe that I was raving about in the article.

Here is the correct link -
Cooking Light’s - Crab Cakes and Roasted Vegetables

My oversized Dunce cap must have been covering my eyes at the time I was checking the email links before sending.

We Are Going Green Eliminate Your Paper Renewal Notices

Some EBSCO customers received an email with a PDF attachment about 10 days ago (Friday, March 21st, 2008)…this was our first test for delivering your renewal notice electronically if your EBSCO account currently had one on file.

EBSCO Reception Room Subscription Services is making an effort to reduce the amount of paper we are sending out to our customers and could use your help. Eventually we would like to offer an exclusive paperless renewal notice option, but for the next few months we will be sending both to test our delivery and fulfillment systems.

You can ensure that you receive your future electronic renewal notice by keeping your email address up-to-date on your account and modifying your account’s email delivery preferences here.

We also would like to request that you put errssfeedback@ebsco.com and errss@ebsco.com on the safe senders list of your email program. You can find specific instructions on how to do this with your email program here.

For those of you who got an email the other day during our first test, but had already processed or cancelled your renewal, please bear with us we are still working out some of the bugs.

As for those of you who have not received one yet, when your renewal notice comes due we hope that you will find this new system much easier and more environmentally friendly.

Please always be wary of any attempts at phishing, your email will always have your account number included in the email. If unsure of any email you receive from us, you can always call us at 1-800-527-5901 to verify that we sent it to you.

Thank you for your patience and doing business with EBSCO!

Great Idea But No Pen And Paper Use Jott

Use Jott to turn your voice into emailI always get great business tips from the blogs of my fellow Internet Marketers. I found my recent favorite on Michael Gray’s Blog (Atlas Web Services).

Have you ever had a great idea, but no pen and paper?

If you have your cell phone, have no fear. No, it isn’t like voice mail reminders. Jott is an awesome phone/Internet application that uses voice recognition software to translate your words into an email, text messages, twitter messages, and even blog posts.

All you do is set up your contacts on Jott, and then when you call, it asks you who/where you want to send the message. Add your message and viola! Your voice becomes text and is sent to the appropriate contact.

Cool huh?

I love that you can set up multiple contacts in one group and email that whole group with one message. I also don’t like to text message that much, I just can’t seem to get the hang of typing letters with the numeric keypad thing. All I need to do is add Jott’s number as a speed dial key and I am texting finger-free!

It may not be for everyone, but if you check your email more than you check your voice mail like me, Jott may be a huge time saver for you.

BTW - Michael Gray (listed above) is one of the best Internet Marketing Consultants I’ve met – check out his services at Atlas Web Services if you feel your website needs more traffic or if you want your website to bring in more revenue online. But you don’t have to believe me – check out his recommendations on LinkedIn.

When Did New York Magazine Become Playboy

Lindsay Lohan trying to be like Marilyn Monroe - not for children's eyesAttention all customers who have New York magazine in your waiting areas.

If you have children that sit in the waiting area, then it would probably be a good idea NOT to put out the newest New York magazine (2-25-08 issue) for public viewing. Lindsay Lohan is wearing practically nothing and the pictures are dangerously revealing.

I guess they want to sell more to the male demographic…that’s one way to do it.

Brijit Helps Speed Your Reading

Check out Brigit.com and absorb your favorite media fasterYou buy all these great magazines, but it seems you never have the time to relax and catch the articles that you really would enjoy. On the other hand, how many times have you gotten half way through an article and said “This article is terrible…I want my 15 minutes back!”

There is a website out there that can help you compress your reading time. It will also allow you to focus on articles that will be truly valuable to you. Check out brijit.com.

Brijit.com is an online service run by an army of freelance writers who review thousands of magazine articles. Each writer writes 100 word abstracts on each article to help you “try before you buy” the real article.
